For Both Dr. Zitnay and Dr. Hong:
To help have a successful office visit,
here are some recommendations
General Information:
Financial
- Bring your copayment which is required by your insurance (sorry,
checks and cash only)
- Billing Questions: please call MJME who does our billing at 982-7752
- Call your insurance company if you want a certain test or procedure
done. Everyone's insurance is unique, and ultimately it is up to
you to know if you are covered or not.
Medical
- Write all your questions/concerns down in a list
- Prioritize your list because you may not be able to get everything
done in one visit.
- Bring all your current prescription bottles with you to ensure:
- Verify number of refills you have left
- Verify you are taking what the doctor wants you to take
- If a family member is an important caretaker, please have that
person come during the office visit.
- If you are diabetic, bring in your glucose meter and your sugar
diary with the sugars averaged.
- Those with Accucheck, you can download your information in
our lobby
- Turn off cell phone while with doctor or nurse. Whoever is calling
can wait 20 minutes.
- Do not email urgent medical questions because they may not be
viewed until the end of hte day, or if the office is closed, it
may not be viewed for many days.
- Dr. Hong has 4 urgent care slots at the end of each day for his
patients.
Prescriptions
- Bring all your current prescription bottle/slips with you
- Ask for your refills during your office
visit
- Prescription Refills are not called into pharmacies if at
all possible for the following reasons
- Too many errors occur with phone-ins
- Pharmacy does not always get their voice mail message
and therefore the Rx is not filled when you arrive there
- Mis-identity problems occur
- The best way to ensure you get the correct medicine and
the medicine you want is to take the written prescription
to the pharmacy yourself.
- Prescription refills can be picked up at the front desk if
you forgot to get them during your office visit. {If you need
to have them mailed, a small mailing fee may be applied.}
- If you need to mail in prescriptions, ask for your 3 month
supply
- If you need a 21d or month Rx written locally, ask for
that as well until your mail in order arrives.
- If new medicines are needed or dosage changes are needed, then
prescriptions will be called in if you cannot pick up the Rx at
the front desk.
- Narcotics: Dr. Zitnay does not prescribe narcotics. Dr. Hong can
prescribe narcotics on a short-term basis, but does not write for
long term narcotics in general.
Office Is Closed
- MJH answering service will take you call and you may leave a message.
- If it is an emergency, have the on-call doctor paged.
- During Vacation times
- Dr. Zitnay may still be carrying his pager or have a covering
physician on call
- Dr. Hong has Blue Ridge Internal Medicine or Ivy Internal
Medicine covering for him.
- The covering practice will be able to approve referral
numbers if you need one emergently
- If you need to be seen urgently, the on call practice
can see you if there is availability, just like any practice.
- Urgent Care Center at MJH Outpatient Center on Pantops is
opened 7 days a week from 12pm to 8pm.
- Thursday mornings when the office is always closed, Dr. Hong and
Dr. Zitnay are carrying their pagers if you need them immediately
